4th September

 

The results were known last week but are now confirmed... the 1st XI gain promotion to Division 2 and the 2nd XI are Division 9 Champions.

 

Not a bad summer:

 

2nd XI Division 9 champions

1st XI gain third promotion in consecutive years

U13's League winners in the cricket festival

U11's League winners in the cricket festival

U13's Weldca Colts League winners.

 

 

28th August

 

Lots of great news this week. Firstly the juniors... the U11's and U13's both won their leagues in the Sussex Cricket Festival. Unfortunately neither made it through to the finals due to net run figures.

 

The Saturday 1st XI won again and with Battle's result their position cannot be taken.

 

And finally... the 2nd XI won in a match which looked lost. The points guarantees them Division 9 Champions.  

 

 

23rd August

 

Apologies to all waiting on last weeks reports but, even with the weather as it is, the Sussex Cricket Festival is taking place at the moment.

 

There were wins again from both the 1st XI and 2nd XI strengthening their current positions in their leagues. The report are now up...

 

Cricket Festival... a quick update:

 

Under 11's

Monday 20th away to Steyning - WIN

Tuesday 21st home to Easbourne Abandoned (with N/h 71 for 1)

Wednesday 22nd home to Newick - WIN

 

Under 13's

Monday 20th away to Ifield - WIN

Tuesday 21st away to St Peters - WIN

Wednesday 22nd home to Burgess Hill - Winning Draw (we think)

 

An excellent start but it looks like the weather may decide who the finalists are rather than the play on the field.

 

 

14th August 07

 

The 1st XI win again and climb to 2nd in Div 3. The 2nd XI were also victorious in front of the largest home crowd of the season. Reports are now up...

 

 

9th August 07

 

With the posting of the final league table for the Under 13's it is now official - Newhaven Under 13's are league champions.

 

This is the first league win for 6 years - the last youngsters to manage this are currently leading the Saturday 1st XI...

6th August 07

 

The Saturday 1st XI are back on track with a win - report now up. The 2nd XI went down to Wadhurst III leaving both in third position in their league.

This week it's the turn of the seconds to shine and fly the Newhaven colours - a mixture of cool headed experience and youthful energy saw the 2nd XI's win and plant themselves on top of their division. Updated results and reports are now up.

 

 

29th July 07

 

Sunday 29th July became "Ian's Day" as we hosted a representative friendly between Sussex's Eastern Eagles and Western Warriors. The Eagles won easily aided by Ian's bowling figures of 3 overs, 1 maiden, 10 runs but no wicket. Ian's fielding was also as enthusiastic as ever - he also batted (but don't mention it!).

 

 

24th July 07

 

We have ourselves a genuine 'Ted Rogers' this week...

 

3... The 1st XI drew to put them third in their division. Report now up.

2... The 2nd XI won to put them up to second.

1... The Under 13's have ended the season first - well done to them.

The friendly contest for the James Daniels Memorial Trophy took place on Sunday 15th July at Denton Cricket Club. Click here or on the picture above to see a few pictures from the day...

14th July 07

 

Another touring team made an appearance Fort Road - this time it was the Under 13's turn with a match against Windsor CC. Team photo available here - stats will be added later.

With the 1st's not playing again it has been a while since an update.

 

The Saturday 2nds are doing well and currently second in their division.

 

Under 13's are performing well and with other results going their way there are nervous times ahead over the next seven days.

 

Under 11's have lost one (Preston Nomads) and won one (Burgess Hill) this week with a mentionable performance by Rhys W of the Under 11's - top scoring with 20no and bowling of 3 for 4 saw him leave the ground with his new bat under his arm and the man of the match trophy and the match ball - well done.

 

Ian R seems unstoppable this week - playing at representative level Sunday, scoring 31no Monday, 31 on Tuesday and 19 Wednesday. The only possible chance of a rest for his dad this week is a postal strike...

NEW Feature - The guestbook has been relegated down the page and replaced with a Blog (or rather a Blah) which can be accessed via the red link on the right. Please sign up and give it a go - it's open to all.

It has features such as an events calendar and private messaging. Some features require users to be part of the administrator group so if it is used we will need volunteers...

Another win for the Under 13's against Chiddingly - well done lads. Updated Stats now available.

 

With Graham now back from where the sun has been shining we now have up to date Saturday 1st results and a match report from last week.

 

There are also two notes for your calendar:

1. Thursday 28th June. Hatfield Hyde CC - a touring side from Welwyn Garden City will be playing a fixture at 2pm
2. Sunday 8th July there is a fixture against Rottingdean CC (away) to celebrate the 200th anniversary of our first recorded match. (2.30pm)

With the Under 13's winning a friendly against Seaford on Friday evening the Under 11's kept the ball rolling with a 58 run win over Firle. Between them the two teams have won 9 out of 10 games.

An excellent week for the club: the Under 11's started things off with a convincing win away to Portslade, the Under 13's then continued the momentum with away wins against Firle and Chiddingly... and while the youngsters were winning the Saturday 1st were left with oxygen masks to help cope with the the thin air at the top of Div 3.
